Stanford: We came out well against Cal with an early lead but played poorly the 2nd half and let them come back and win the game on universe. We did the opposite against brown and went down early but came back for the win. The 2nd day we played poorly the whole day with big unacceptable looses to Washington and Santa Barbara.

Centex: We came out a little slow our first game partly because we thought games started 30 min later than they did and started down against some team I have never heard of and then went on a 10-1 run to end the game and then carried that momentum in our next game against Harvard. The Harvard game ended with probably the most sensational point of the tournament with a big sky by freshman Zander Padget over multiple defenders followed by a sky and line toe by senior Kevin Schipper for the win. We kept the energy up and finished the day with wins over Texas A&M and Texas despite coach Jim not being able to keep his mustache on. The 2nd day started with Jim cruising the town by himself in one of the vans so the whole team drove to the fields in 1 van with all with everyones gear. We managed to get to the field on time this time though and came out strong against Stanford and slowly pulled away for the victory and did the same in the Illinois game. We were happy to see Washington in finals for some revenge after a 13-6 lose at Stanford. There was some wind for finals but both teams were able to score up wind. Fueled on humiliation, anger and mamabird hate from Stanford, we were able to get up wind and down wind breaks giving us 15-7 victory.

Ben Thomas’s video camera broke upon arrival in Vegas. Instead of video, here are the stills he took.
Vegas went so-so, some disappointing loses help fuel the fire right now. Friday started out nice but got quickly got windy and Carlton took a 5-7 victory. The wind brought the rain storm Saturday, Vegas got their yearly average rain fall in one day and dreams of warm Vegas sun were crushed but games went well with a 10-6 victory over the hododes in the showcase game. Sunday’s games were played in a mud pit with a standard Vegas breeze and started with a disappointing lose against Oregon but a 5-2 record put us into quarters. Cornell played well but was not quite able to hang as bird advanced to semi’s against Carleton. Hungry for redemption from Fridays lose, Bird beat Carleton by 1 to advance to finals. Finals started out rough and Florida up with about a 5 point lead at half. Bird replied with a 4 point(?) run at the end but it was too late and hard cap went on at 13-11. Keep choppin.
